Google Chrome OS

Now some of you may have heard about the new OS coming our way from Google, the Google Chrome OS. Now the information we have had about it is that Google are ‘open sourcing’ the code for their latest venture. They are also stating how it will be the ideal OS for a complimentary device rather than a computer. Now make of that what you will, whether it means that it will be replacing Android as the OS for some contract mobile phones remains to be seen, but as for ‘complimentary devices that it won’t be going on is the iPhone 3GS.

You can find any number of iPhone deals and you can put your mortgage on the fact that they will definitely have the latest iOS 4 on them and any older models for sale will have the older iOS on them.

The Google Chrome OS is pretty much a browser that has much greater functionality than your traditional OS and it will only work with SSD or solid state memory rather than a hard drive. For those of you pondering what SSD is exactly but are thinking to yourself “SSD I recognise that” It’s the kind of memory card your phone takes. So could that lead us toward the fact that this is going to be targeted at mobile handsets over PC’s? Only time will tell…
